Tube maintenance precautions

Mouth hygiene – To ensure proper hygiene, the mouth must be washed after meals and whenever necessary.

Change tube adhesive securement: 1) On a daily basis, change the tube adhesive securement device. First remove the tube adhesive and then remove the nose adhesive. Use all precautions to avoid tube displacement; 2) Clean the skin with water and soap and then carefully dry it. To remove glue from the tube you can use alcohol at 96%; 3) Use hypoallergenic adhesive to clamp the tube. Avoid inducing pressure on the nostrils. Ensure that the nose is perfectly clean; 4) The nurse is responsible for changing the tube according to the materials specificities.
