Check correct placement of tube in the stomach
. Perform hand hygiene.
. Check if the tube is not in the mouth.
. Close the nasogastric tube by folding it at the base.
. Remove cap.
. Using a feeding syringe, inject approximately 15 to 20 ml of air through the tube and at the same time place your hands over the stomach to feel the breathing.
. It is important that the inserted air is aspirated at the end of this procedure.
. Check if the tube is not in the mouth.
