Transferring bed to chair (person with lack of autonomy)
If your family member is not able to stand with aid, then:
. Block the chair and bed wheels.
. Lift the bed.
. Remove the pillow from the head of your family member.
. Move the family member as close to the edge of the bed.
. Lift the head of the bed to a 90-degree angle if you have an articulated bed.
. Cross arms and legs of your family member.
. Place one hand in the shoulders and the other on the feet of your family member. In a single movement, pivot him/her towards the edge of the bed into a sitting position.
. Lower the bed to the height of the chair. It should be placed in a 35-degree angle in relation to bed.
. Cross arms of your family member and place your arms around his/her waist.
. In a single swing movement, help him/her to reach the chair.
. If necessary, you should align your family member positioning.
. Place yourself behind the chair, cross your family member arms and hold his/her hands at the same time you push him/her towards the chair.
