Teach how to dress shirt

  1. Place shirt over the thigh.
  2. Put the affected arm through the sleeve of the shirt.
  3. Use the unaffected hand to pull the shirt by the collar.
  4. Dress sleeve of the unaffected side.
  5. Use the unaffected hand to button shirt.
  6. Use a buttoner (if necessary).

Teach how to dress sweater (or dress)

  1. Place sweater over thighs, back facing up.
  2. Put the affected arm through the sleeve using the unaffected hand.
  3. Put the other arm through the sleeve.
  4. Pull both sleeves up alternately until they reach the shoulders.
  5. Put head through the sweater, pushing it down.

Teach how to dress trousers or skirts

  1. Cross legs, affected leg over unaffected leg.
  2. Start putting trousers on through the affected leg.
  3. Uncross legs.
  4. Put on trousers through the unaffected leg and pull trousers up to the thighs.
  5. Rise and use the unaffected hand to pull trousers up.
  6. Sit down to button trousers.
  7. Use button hook (if necessary).

Teach how to put on socks and shoes

  1. Sit on a chair and cross legs.
  2. Open sock with thumb and index and middle fingers of the unaffected hand or use a stock aid.
  3. Start putting the sock on through the affected foot.
  4. Place the shoe in front of the foot.
  5. Insert toe tips into the shoe.
  6. Insert heel into the shoe, gently pressing the affected knee with the hand.
  7. A long-handle shoehorn can be used to facilitate putting shoes on.
  8. Press feet against the floor and make sure shoes are correctly adjusted.
