A: Wash the mouth of the person not collaborating

1. Lift bed with the person lying on his/her back or without lifting the bed, place the person in a side-lying position.
2. Place towel over chest
3. Place a tray under person’s chin (if needed).
4. Pull chin down
5. Wash mouth using dental sponge or swab with spatula moistened with an oral solution (antiseptic).
6. Check the mouth for injuries.
7. If necessary apply a lip moisturiser.

B: Assist the patient with mouth wash

1. Assist the patient placing the towel over chest and tray under the chin.
2. Assist the patient with mouth wash with toothbrush, toothpaste and glass with water
